377 cities from all 27 EU Member States and associated countries applied to Horizon’s Europe Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.
The EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities aims to deliver climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030 and ensure that these cities act as experimentation and innovation hubs to enable all European cities to become climate-neutral by 2050. The 377 cities that expressed an interest in becoming climate neutral by 2030 submitted information on their current situation and future plans to reach that target.
The Cities Mission will now work with independent experts to assess the cities and will announce the selected ones in spring 2022. NetZeroCities, the Cities’ Mission Platform, will support the selected cities with tools, services and expertise to help them in their journey towards an inclusive, thriving, climate-resilient and sustainable future.
