Twelve Ukrainian cities join the SUN4Ukraine initiative of the EU Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission

A group of 12 municipalities from across Ukraine have been selected as SUN4Ukraine's Flagship Municipalities, embarking on a transformative journey toward climate neutrality by 2050. These municipalities will receive support from the SUN4Ukraine project and will collaborate with EU Mission Cities to exchange knowledge and strengthen capacities in the pursuit of climate-neutral rebuilding. A new group of 20 Mission Cities has been awarded the EU Mission Label by the European Commission for their plans to reach climate neutrality, bringing the total number of labelled cities to 53. At a ceremony in Brussels, 23 cities – all part of the EU Cities Mission – received a ‘Mission Label’, following the submission of their Climate City Contract or CCC, which defines the city’s climate commitments, action plan, and investment strategy to become climate neutral by 2030. Forty cities from across Europe have been announced as NetZeroCities’ first cohort of Twin Cities, joining the growing network of cities engaging with the EU’s Cities Mission to make more than 100 cities climate neutral by 2030.
