Mission in Progress: Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Conference 2023

The Conference

We are excited to announce the second annual conference for the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission. This year, the European Commission and NetZeroCities invite Mission City mayors and practitioners, representatives of national and regional authorities, and others to connect and engage on Mission-critical concepts and ideas.

Mission in Progress: Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Conference 2023  will be held in Brussels 26-27 June 2023. This invitation-only event is organised by the European Commission and NetZeroCities and will bring together political representatives and practitioners from the 112 Mission Cities to celebrate progress, share insights and inspiration.

What’s in it for my city?

The first day, 26 June, will be a day for exchange and dialogue between city practitioners – mission coordinators at the city level and transition team members. The second day, 27 June, will have a two-track agenda: a practitioner track for city transition team delegates, and a political track for political representatives.

We have a lot on offer for cities over these two days including peer-to-peer exchange sessions, thematic knowledge and policy challenge exchanges, a session for all Mission Cities to discover opportunities and synergies with Pilot Cities, as well as the chance to get to know the Cities Mission projects and partners through an interactive session, inspiring talks, conversations with the EU Cities Mission representatives and more!

To know more and discover the speakers, take a look at the full conference programme below. Cities are receiving regular updates in the run up to the conference, with a breakdown of the various events and what to expect.

For colleagues who are unable to attend, there will be a livestream available to watch the second day plenary sessions at the conference, as well as closing remarks from Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice President of the European Commission. This livestream will become live Tuesday 27 June at 09:30 CEST. It will close at 12:30 and reopen at 17:45 for F. Timmermans conclusions. An agenda of the sessions that will be livestreamed is available here.
