26 Cities to Receive Additional EU Support on Climate-neutral Journey

The ambition of EU Mission Cities to reach their climate targets by 2030 has been given another important boost through Horizon Europe, the EU’s key research and innovation programme, and NetZeroCities, with new funding of up to 1.5 million Euros and access to expert support. Twenty-six cities from across the EU and in associated countries of Horizon Europe will benefit from nearly 15 million Euros in total to become ‘Pilot Cities’, acting as innovation hubs as they test solutions for rapid decarbonisation. Forty cities from across Europe have been announced as NetZeroCities’ first cohort of Twin Cities, joining the growing network of cities engaging with the EU’s Cities Mission to make more than 100 cities climate neutral by 2030. The European Commission announces the 100 selected cities to join the Cities Mission

Today, the European Commission published the list of the 100 EU cities that have been selected to be part of the EU Mission for 100 Climate Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030, also known as the Cities Mission. The designated cities come from all 27 EU countries, with 12 additional cities coming from countries associated or with the potential of being associated to Horizon Europe. These cities were selected from among 362 eligible cities that expressed an interest in becoming climate-neutral by 2030.
