What is the NetZeroCities Community of Practice?

Tackling climate challenges requires more than simply good intentions. It demands collaboration, innovation, and a continuous exchange of knowledge across sectors – exactly what the new Community of Practice (CoP) is designed to foster.

This community will serve as a bridge to connect city officials, public and private organisations, academia, and NGOs dedicated to achieving climate-neutral cities.

But this is not just about networking. Whether stakeholders aim to deepen their knowledge, share best practices, connect with peers in similar sectors, or help address city challenges, the Community of Practice provides a dynamic and engaging space for all its members.

A Burgeoning Climate Community: Gaining Ground and Driving Impact

Following a six-month trial that ended in May 2024, it was clear that there was significant enthusiasm for a community like this one.

During this short period, we welcomed over 260 members, leading to a diverse pool of expertise, increased engagement, and enhanced participation in our activities. We were also able to keenly identify key topics of interest and organise thematic sessions around them.

In the coming months, we will continue to welcome more experts, practitioners, and cities too, further strengthening our community’s know-how and broadening the range of solutions we can offer to address city challenges.

This diversity demonstrates an essential part of the NetZeroCities project, bringing together a broad network from across Europe in various fields like mobility, construction, energy, the circular economy and more.

Collaborate on Climate Solutions with International Experts

The urgency to take bold steps towards climate neutrality has never been greater. That’s why the launch of the Community of Practice is such an exciting development. It’s a vibrant space where passion, expertise, and collaboration come together to drive real change.

Through webinars, workshops, and case-study exchanges, the Community of Practice will ensure that its members:

  • have access to the most up-to-date information and the best tools available;
  • can share best practice;
  • connect with a quick-growing, passionate, and knowledgeable community;
  • and collaborate to address pressing needs and take value back to their local community.

The community will offer a wide range of activities and topics, and upcoming highlights include expert presentations on GHG calculation tools, joint events with other projects in climate neutrality, discussions on city challenges, and the importance of citizen engagement.
